Thomas Jocher

 

born 1961 in Saalfelden, Austria, of a french mother and austrian father,
raised in Strasbourg, France

1981 - 86

Studied painting at the Academie of fine arts in Vienna.

1986 - 88

lived in Madrid, Spain.

1987

Post graduate workshops Talleres de Arte Actual with Nacho Criado, Mitsuo Miura Und Juan Navarro Baldeweg at the Circulo de Bellas Artes, Madrid

Co-founded an artistsgroup with Michael Haas ,Antonio Fernandez and Antonio Murado in Lugo, Spain. The group developed interdisciplinary and selfreferencial statements to deconstruction of the myth of the artist . The group also organized a two years exchange program of shows between young spanish and austrian artists in their own exhibition space

1993

Co-founded Fehler Fallen Kunst with writer Sabine Scholl in Vienna, developing cross-over projects between experimental literature and visual art, which set out to study the deconstruction of identity.

1996 - 2001

lived in Chicago and New York, U.S.A.

lives and works in Berlin since 2001.

beside painting TJ also participated from 2007 to 2008 in the music project POP MODEL as trumpet player and is, since 2009, member of the band AFTERMARS (http://aftermars.net)
